CSI? Scientific criminal investigative techniques?
Tried the thesaurus, but they were no help -- just gave a definition for the older meaning of forensics:
"forensics
noun
The presentation of an argument or arguments: argumentation, debate, disputation. See affirm, words "
I'm pretty sure that's not what you want, right?! Oh, well. I tried.

For one type of forensics, a synonym could be debate or public speaking. I don't think there's a synonym for forensic science.

it depends on what type of forensics...
the speaking type of forensics? then your answer would be debate.
or the forensic anthropologist type? then it would probably be examination.
