Usually Black and Brown are not worn together, but doesn't mean you can't make it work.
Try a ligher color dye that complimemts both colors

No, no and NO! If the suit is black and you just want to add some color to it, the most you can get away with is a blue, yellow, gray, or white shirt. I like blue. Depending on the style and cut of the suit, you could go either light blue or a pleasant royal blue (that color tends to be a bit garish at times, but it's worth a go.) It also depends on the occasion such as a job interview, office wear, or a special meeting/outing. Here's what might work for you for the blue scale: Find out what time of day the event is, the later/darker it is the darker blue you can go for. As for a tie, with a lighter blue you might want to stick with a patterned tie on the darker side. For the darker shades you may want a solid color tie that is a bit lighter and more dramatic (never white!!). Either way, your tie should be in the blue or black family. Shoes should definitely be black. Think contrast... This is the only instance in which you'll want to mix lights and darks lol. In other words dark suit, light shirt, dark tie... OR... dark suit, light tie, dark shirt. You'll look great! Oh and not pocket square/tie coordination they should NOT match the rule died loooooooooong ago (and may it rest in peace!) remember think contrast!!

If you can find a patterned tie that has both black and brown in it, that would look great. Otherwise, I'd suggest a plain black tie to keep the look 'pulled together.' If you are going on an interview, the best color shirt to wear is white, or ivory. With a black suit, you could wear any color tie and the contrast of the black suit, white shirt and colorful tie will draw a person's eyes and attention to the most important part of you...your face! Also make sure everything is clean and ironed. Wrinkles ruin the look!!LOL!

No, the brown shirt has to go. A black suit is just a step down from a tux. Get a white shirt and maybe a silver tie.

Well, if you absolutely *have to* wear a dark brown shirt with a black suit...try to lighten it up as much as possible with the tie. Maybe something with cream and pastel colors.

i personally don't like people wearing a dark shirt under a black suit. wear something that will stand out. just wear the classic black suit with white shirt and a thin black tie. i like that look.

Wouldn't be my first choice but it could work with a light brown tie or striped tan, brown and white tie.
