I have not worked in a long time because I was sick. Now I am ready to get going and can not find a job. Why won't anyone give me a chance to show them I am able to handle anything they throw at me......

people usually have doubts about you when they don't know you. you got to keep on searching and don't give up. you'll find something along the way. don't let one situation slow you down. also don' t push yourself too hard, learn how to pace yourself just because the fact that you just recover from sickness. you don't want to go back to where you started with your health.

I'm in the same boat. It's basically because you have been out of the job market for so long that companies don't think that you "remember" how the working thing goes. What you need to do is update your resume. Put down anything that remotely sounds like work and word it in a "business" fashion. Let's say you've been balancing your check book online. You could say you have skills in "money management," "online money management," "proficient Internet skills," and "computer literate."

Hang in there! Get a job-hunting process going (like with the help of a local workforce center) and stick to it. Trust the process and don't settle for a job you'll hate. Take good care of yourself while you're job-hunting, too. Get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, etc. It'll come.

Beef up your resume with some fake companies and experience. When they ask about it, just say they went out of business a while ago.
