I'm thinking of moving there but after being a Californian for so long, it's hard to tolerate winter as a whole. Is it usually cold around April?

Coldest Month is typically January. The average temps for January are 51/32. Charlotte rarely gets snow, but does receive ice during the winter months. The ice usually melts fairly soon (within a day after it accumulates).

The nice thing about Southern winters is everything shuts down - very few people are on the roads so it makes driving tolerable. The worst part is when the weather forecasters call for snow, the grocery stores fill up - people race to get milk and bread (I don't really know why).

Summers are warm and humid with the warmest month being in July with averages of 90/71.

I do enjoy Charlotte and miss it greatly. I hope you enjoy the city as much as I did.
