It really depends on the type of fish you have. Goldfish produce a lot of ammonia so I wouldn't recommend leaving it out longer that 1-2 days. You can then put new filters in. Regardless of how long you leave them out always put new ones in. You don't want to reintroduce any of those things back into your fish tank. Good luck.

As long as you need the medication to be active in the tank, the carbon filter must be out. Theres no bad effects with the carbon and the medicine, its just that the filter will remove the medicine from the water and preventing the medications from working to the best they can. Also, your tank has ich and fungus? Have you isolated your fish or are you treating the tank as a whole? Be sure you are using a medicine that is treating whats ailing your tank and are dosing properly and the ich, at least, should cure in a few days. What kind of fish do you have? Raise the temp. and add salt. Hope you get it all cured with no casualties... Good Luck!!

the carbon filter will remove the medication... so basically... when you are done treating the tank and the ick and fungus is completely gone, it is safe to put the carbon filter back in...... if you put it in while you are medicating, it will pretty much make the medication useless...

The filter out must be on each and all the time. positioned pantyhose over the intake of the filter out to decelerate the flow. If that doesn't help sufficient, shrink the ends off a pop bottle and shrink a right this moment line down the dimensions of the tube that is ramaining. Stick that around the out flow of the filter out to disperse the flow.

I think it's three days. You have to wait until you have completed the Ick treatment.
