Yes, I agree that we in this country do have freedom of speech (unlike in many muslim countries), but my question was Is it Right. You didn't actually answer my question.

zazou,
You're warped imo. What countryu do you come from. Do you think YOUR country has a right to exists. Besides the Jews were there long before the Palestinians and God promised the land to them.

zazou,
I believe it is right for Israel to exist in the Middle East. You cannot deny God promised the land to the Jews, not to any other group. Their claim is older than anyone else's. It is a promise to Jews not just Palestinian Jews.

Nina,
Very interesting and well argued. I do, however, have a problem with one of your points. The land God promised to the Jews was promised on the basis of faith, not race. Therefore, it is irrelevant whether the Jewish people in Israel are genetically semitic or not. As I understand it the Shepardic Jewish population in Israel is numerically greater with a greater propensity to reproduce; these sephardic Jews are those who in general remained in Arabic and Middle eastern countries and are more likely to be genetically "semitic".

levi b,
Don't misunderstand me, but I believe free speech should be just that - namely you are free to say or write ANYTHING including incitement to genocide. I do not say this because I believe any form of genocide is right; in fact i think it is horrible. But I also think robbery is wrong. But I do not see that as a reason to stop me from expressing my views about it. I think it is up to people to make up their own minds about whatever people say or to sue the people who say those things etc.

First off, I would not agree to such a statement by anyone, the Iranian President or Bill O'Reilly who stated: "You know in a sane world, every country would unite against Iran and blow it off the face of the Earth. That would be the sane thing to do."

Back to your question, unfortunately, ”The statements of the Iranian President have been reflected by the media in a manipulated way. Iran's President betokens the removal of the regimes that are in power in Israel and in the USA, to be possible aim for the future. This is correct. He never demands the elimination or annihilation of Israel. He reveals that changes are potential. The Shah-Regime being supported by the USA in its own country has been vanquished. The eastern governance of the Soviet Union collapsed. Saddam Hussein's dominion drew to a close. Referring to this he voices his aspiration that changes will also be feasible in Israel respectively in Palestine. He adduces Ayatollah Khomeini referring to the Shah-Regime who in this context said that the regime (meaning the Shah-Regime) should be removed.”

If these words were truly the Iranian president’s and he truly posed a threat to Israel / Jews, then why hasn’t he “pushed into the sea” or “wiped” the Jews in downtown Tehran”?
The answer is because he doesn't want to kill Jews and his words were taken out of context, intentionally misinterpreted.
Are you aware that Iran doesn't have any laws forbidding ethnic Persians/Arabs/Kurds from marrying Jews, whereas Israel has just advocated a law forbidding marriage to Palestinians?

Have any of you read the Iranian Presidents’ letter to the US President? I think it’s worth reading

Now, let me ask you this; why is the Iranian nuclear power program under so much restriction despite that Iran as a signatory of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, they're entitled to do just that. Moreover, under Article 6 of the Constitution, the U.S. is obligated to honor their safe and legal development of the technology and why has the US rejected to have direct talks with Tehran over nuclear issues?
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/HH31Ak01.html

Why do these same restrictions not apply to Israel, which everyone knows already possesses nukes despite that Israel refused to sign this same treaty in the first place not to mention that Israeli nukes can reach Iran and many of the neighboring Arab and European countries. Ironically Israel is pushing for the war against Iran based on its nuclear program and WMDs same as it previously pushed the war against Iraq for the same reasons and now President Bush is saying that Iraq had none! Take a look at this video, it's very interesting and answers addresses the issue of the land promised to Jews.

Next, you might like to take the time to read this book “The Thirteenth Tribe” by Arthur Koestler, which addresses the issue of the origin of Israeli Jews, in which he proves that these Eastern European "Jews" are neither Israelites nor "Semites," but are instead Khazars, Mongols, and Huns instead of being Israelites; i.e. these Jews from Eastern Europe and Western Asia were descended from Mongolians and other Asiatic peoples who had adopted Judaism as their "religion" over 1,000 years ago and had become know as "Jews."

First, freedom of speech does not exist in Iran. Second, you may not know that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not the real power in Iran. The real power is Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei.
Finally, I believe that it is only the Israelis who are to be pushed into the sea and not the country of Israel, per se.

communicate is lower priced! they could possibility all they prefer yet Israel has a powerful length military and an arsenal of nuclear guns and guns of mass destruction. So i do no longer imagine Israel has something to agonize about! Plus their huge brother u . s . is killing as many Iraqis as plausible and putting sanctions on Iran that are choking Iranian economic gadget! i'm confident Israeli forces are helping! even if it really is something which isn't publicized!

I see that there are issues raised about freedom of speech. As the late Menachem Begin told Anwar Sadat, at their historic meeting:
"There was once someone who said he was going to destroy all the Jews in Europe, and no-one believed him. If someone says it again, we'll believe him."
Free speech obviously cannot include the right to incitement to genocide.

No, it is a state recognised by the UN and by most countries apart from his. If a motion was proposed by Israel, or any other country, that recognition be withdrawn from Iran, there would be uproar. The problem Iran has with Israel has nothing to do with Palestine. Their problem is that they would like to spread Islamic fundamentalism throughout the Middle East. A free, democratic Israel in their midst is like a cancer that may promote democracy.

God promised the land to them? was this before or after they broke the covenent with him, oh thats right they don't beleive that part of the bible.
What I don't understand is how a counrty of people who are "christian" would follow the teachings of another religion that beleives chrstianity to be a joke. This is sopposed to be a christian counrty if we knew the bible we claim to follow, and beat other religions over the head with, we wouldn't be concerned about the jews in Isreal.
Is bush right to give them weapons to blow up "suspected" terrorists with absolutely no dew process or respect for innocent life, I'm sorry but every muslim is not responsible for the actions of terrorists, the terrorist themselves are. when timothy mcvay blew up that building they did not go blow up his block, they arrested them and he stood trial. what s so wrong with that?

i do not think you qouted his true statement but i think he did say that israel should not exist . YES AM WITH HIM . israel citizens are mostly jews coming from all over the world from other countries came & settled in palestine . they kiled the real citizens there & still killing them .there were jews muslims christiens there & bcz of the zionists dream they have lost their homes , raped , killed & everyday there is lots of them dead by israelis hands . yes ahmadinajad was right when he said israel should not exist @ least not in the middleeast , not in palestine .

cognitto as i said jews were there .. there are palistinian jews you know.. the jews who came are not from that area . they settled there & took the land from its real people . a jewish is not an israelien they want to be like that but its not . the israelis now there come from europe , USA , Russia , some arab worlds ., from all the world . not from palestine . actually palistinic jews have no rights as te israeliens .

where i come from ? from the best country of the world . i come from lebanon maybe the only country in the world that have soooo many religion groups in it (18 ) & they live in harmony . our only problem is israel . being our neighbor . & i wish it was a natural neighbor not a one that was inserted in our region .
one day they will go as they came . you will see

why not .. islam has makka (a saudi arabian city ) as a holy city why wouldnot all muslims stay there .?
Vatikan is one of the most holy countries in the christien world why do not all christians go & settle there .
if you think i would hate jews to come to palestine to do their ceremonies then you are wrong . but wat i do not agree about is that they come claim it theirs , killed the real citizens & then cried .
& now come on .. god promised the land to jews after or before he got angry of them . & even ill go with you , he promised it to those who were there @ that time , & not to jews of the world . jew is a religion ..a religion .. not a community .
jews think they have to take their chosen land as they claim from Nile (egypt ) to Furat (iraq ) & they are fucken dreaming . chosen land is a claim or why some jewish religious personneles refuse the state of israel .? why jewish wanted israel first to be in Venzuella a year before they agreed on palestine .?
ISRAEL IS A POLITICAL STATE & NOT A RELIGIOUS STATE .

Not by our standards, but the 2 nations have been fighting since Lott slept with his 2 daughters (biblical decendents of iranians). these people hate each other, much like hitler hated the jews, so what do say to someone you hate. exactly, it might not be right, but they are never going to be civil with one another, so why should we expect them to.
