It's chilly and my fan-heater has broken, so I went to buy a new one. All the shopkeepers shook their heads and said that they don't sell fan-heaters in the summer. They do, however, sell greenhouse heaters.

I was afraid of this. All the shopkeepers and most of Q&A are concerned only about looking after the vegetables.

Greenhouse heaters are specialty items and are value added. They want your bucks. Fan heaters require more stocking and are thus seasonal. Find a local yokel with used appliances for sale, or who would delight in repairing yours.
You've heard of the greenhouse effect? Greenhouses trap heat. We are in the midst of a cold front here; though it may be 78 outside, if I don't take special measures to control the buildup of heat, my greenhouse may heat-up to 120 or more degrees. Give your favorite tree a hug.

Some tropical plants become very tender if the green house drops below the high 60f.
you might be lucky to get a heater from the pet store, some pets need the heat.

Plants do feel the cold. Shut any windows especially at night. They don't like draughts. Fingus Benjamina is one in particular. It will lose it's leaves. Most plants like a constant temperature of around 60f +.Also don't shut them behind curtains because they are trapped in the cold. They are living things. I would have thought you would get a heater in Argos.

Yes. Er, no. Erm, but yeah. Mmmm, praps. Depends what plant, whether the weather is cold out, if the doors are closed or not, how near other plants are to keep each other warm and I always believe time-wasting daft questions deserve time-wasting daft answers. Oh, thanks for the points. Keep cool.
