give them a gift when they arrive and sign it from you, your husband and the baby's name (or plus one if you don't have a name picked out yet).
The gift should be something that they can cherish that will remind them of the moment they were told they would be grandparents for the first time.

Buy photo frames that say I love Grandma and Grandpa that is big enough to hold an ultra sound picture or bigger. If you already have one put it in the frame. If not tell them that it is for the ultra sound picture you get and then the babies first picture! You can ask for an extra ultra sound picture. Most doctors will just give it to you as long as you ask for only one extra. Make sure you wrap it up and give it to them during a gathering so it can turn into a big Happy Pregnancy Party. My best party was my Baby Shower but who says you can't have more Pregnancy parties than that! Congratulations and diaper rash corn starch works wonders if you have that problem. I'm the Queen of diaper rash since I baby sat other peoples children. My son never had a problem with it thank goodness.

The first thing that came to mind was buy a shirt that said I'm gonna be a big brother/sister...but common sense kicked in and I'm thinking this is a first for you....so following the same line of thinking look into getting some T-shirts made that say I'm gonna be a grandma/grandpa! Wrap them up and give them to grandparents to be over a glass of labor day sparkling grape juice

Buy them a pack of newborn diapers and a baby doll and tell them that you thought it would be nice for them to get in some practice before the big test. Dress the baby doll in a real baby t-shirt that reads "Coming This Summer" (you may have to get some fabric paint and write that on a baby shirt).
Congrats and Good Luck!

I reckon you should play a joke on them, and make out like it's no big deal...
Just while you're sitting around talking at some stage, say to them (whenever you can get it in smoothly).
"Oh, by the way, that reminds me, have you guys managed to get your tickets booked yet?" (or if they drive to visit you, ask if they've remembered to put the date in their diaries).
And of course they'll ask what you mean, and then you could say "for the 10th of September of course"...As if everyone knows what that dates about.
And of course they won't understand, and you can just play it from there....
We told my husbands mother that we knew how busy she was, but we were wondering if she would be free to babysit at the end of June... After a VERY long pause, she got the message...

Get them a family tree for a gift (labor day) tree planting LOL
and a blank apple for the baby with your names and their names already on the tree.
Use wood or just paint it on some paper in the form of a card or something,

Well, I think that "Grandparents Day" is celebrated the second Sunday of September. Maybe you could find a Hallmark store that is already displaying the cards, and get one for your parents. When they open the card, I think they'll get the idea!
BTW, congratulations! I wish you well on your first pregnancy!

Where one of your hubby's oversized shirts and ask your parents if they think it makes you look fat? You and Hubby smile real big as you ask that question to your parents.
I also love the "baby foods" idea too. Don't forget to take a picture of you and your parents together once they figure it out!
Makes a great 1st picture in a baby scrapbook!

Go to a bookstore (big one). Start looking for books with baby names. It would help if you went their now and found them. Alternative is to buy the book now and leave it in the bathroom that they will be using as bathroom literature.
Hum "Rockaby Baby" until they get the hint.
Serve Ice cream and pickles for dessert.
If you get a Sunday newspaper with coupons, ask your mother to cut out the ones you hand her. There almost always diaper and baby food coupons, hand them to her without any comments.
Wishing you and your husband a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby.
