I don't. I think she is funny looking and here charactor is uneducated trailer park trash and the realities is no matter how much Gucci you put on her she will still be. Okay I am being critical because I still enjoy the movie but my feminist side does cringe at the thought of how they make being dirty street walker so glamorous. Maybe if they had done more to show that whe had been screwed by a fat, greasy old man the night before it wouldn't be so bad. I think all girls jsut want the Cinderella/Pigmillian type fairytale. Girl get pulled out of the gutter by rich, loving stud muffin. Yeah that will happen. I think that Pretty Woman was even based on Pigmillion( My fair lady).

Who's movie is it?
It's Richard Gere's movie -- he's the one who made a change. The idea that she's a prostitute serves to get the 'sex part' out of the way so we could see the interaction of two individuals.
So, instead of it being about the sexual tension in most romantic movies, she becomes his Muse.
He then reflects upon his life, remember liking to stack blocks and decided to not be the person he had grown to be.
So ... really, the idea that she's a prostitute is brilliant and it's certainly a sub-plot. But the movie is Richard Gere's ... he makes the changes, she doesn't.

This role didn't make women want to be a hooker like Julia Roberts in the film, it taps into our primal feelings about money, power, pleasure, shame, intimacy, and love disguised in fairy tale trappings. No one is meant to believe it is plausible. Ultimately, it is the romance of the film, and the ability to rescue someone, while they rescue you in return that women want.

They glamorized it because it sells. The same as "Horse Whisperer" and "Bridges of Madison County" glamorize adultery.

Because, dear, if they made a movie about the way prostitution really is, it would be so depressing and unglamorous no one would go to see it. Hollywood glamorizes many things that in real life are far from glamorous.

I don't think that girls dream to be like that part of the movie they just wish to meet a rich man and have him love you and take care you, like she does in the movie.
