So far this year, Democratic candidates have spent $23.4 million on television ads that criticize President Bush and link him to Republican office seekers, TNS Media Intelligence/CMAG Eye reports. That compares to about only $1.4 million that Republican candidates have spent on television ads!! whats your opinion??

I think their money would be better spent on ads stating exactly how they would do things better, what exactly their plans for the country are. I'm afraid that they are just blowing smoke and doing the only campaigning they know how to do... mudslinging, name calling and unfounded attacks. They have no plan and are utterly clueless, thats the only thing all their ads have told me. Sorry, but I'm sure not voting for a party that can't even discuss the issues.

Now go the next step. Add in how much money all the incumbents have spent, and how much their political parties have spent. I think you'll find the numbers much more comparable.

Then look at the fact we have a 98% incumbency rate in Congress. So, the non-incumbent party needs to put in a little bit more effort to balance against the benefit of being in-office.

Finally, Bush is not running for office. So, what does it matter how many of those ads criticize him.

Poor planning, people won't remember what they saw on television last month, much less several months from now. The republicans are saving their money for the last minute in order to flood the channels with names of their canidates, because ultimately name recognition is a major factor in deciding who wins.

Ummmm... that is still significantly lower than the cost of the war that the republicans started. the Democratic ads don't insult people. That would be the republican ones that call their opponents 'flip flops' instead of saying that their party has firm beleifs that do not change, I can think of lots of examples. Where are your examples of Democratic tv ads that do that. And, the republicans have more power to cheat because they have big gas companies to back them who pay for that stuff. And when the democrats are back in power and all has returned to peace, I bet the republicans would do the same thing.

The GOP has far more money than the Democratic Party, but it can hardly put out ads criticizing the president, can it? It's spending all its money on congressional races.

All of the political ads I've seen on TV in Ohio so far are from Republicans.

What are you talking about? Campaign Media Analysis Group reports that republicans spent $5million in Tennessee alone so far this year. Your math is way, way off.

It sounds like a lot more people are donating money to the Democrat party. I wonder why that would be?

My opinion is that the Democrats' entire platform is that "Democrats hate George Bush." It's an immature and irrelevant platform...but a lot of people subscribe to it.
