Don't worry, the largest Ball Python couldn't even come close to killing you. When you go to pick them up, move slowly from the side or behind their head. Reach underneath them and pick them up. If it's a large Ball, make sure you use both hands to support their body.

Do not try to restrain their head as they are head shy and it will just stress them out in addition to distrusting you and possibly biting you when you let go. Instead, just allow them to move where they want while gently controlling where they go.

Occasionally you might find an agressive Ball Python, but 99 times out of 100 when they bite you, it's just a quick bite and release. If it's a hunger strike, they might bite and constrict your arm but even that isn't a big deal. Try not to jerk your hand back or else you could break some of their teeth. Instead, run cool water over their head or in extreme cases you put a little bit of hard liquor in their mouth to get them to let go.

Ball pythons aren't huge snakes, and they aren't particularily jumpy or aggressive. Just make sure the snake knows that you are there first, then I usually pet the snake a couple of times just to let it know that you're going to handle it, then just pick it up gently. Support it as much as possible, but don't worry too much, they can support themselves perfectly well in pretty much any position. Place a hand under the snake about a third of the way forward from the tail, and another close to where the body ends and the neck starts (yes, they have necks... The body will narrow considerably), or you can hold the snake about the midway portion of the body with one hand and can use the other hand to redirect him if necessary. No matter which method you use, the rest of the snake will find a confortable position. Be aware that this may very likely involve wrapping around a handy limb. This is not an attack, rather a holding on sort of thing. A true constricting attack is usually fast and follows a bite, so don't worry when he wraps around your arm. Don't handle the head any more than necessary until the snake really trusts you. Balls aren't prone to biting but this does annoy them somewhat. As far as constricting, don't worry too much. Balls, although strong, don't have the power of a large constrictor, and even if you were attacked, which is unlikely, you should be able to get yourself out without problem. If you're unsure, don't let the snake near your neck. A ball python won't be able to do any damage whatsoever by constricting a limb. As far as the baby goes, same thing, just be a little more careful about letting the snake know what's going on. Young ones tend to be a little jumpier than adults.

I always make sure my snakes know when I'm going to pick them up. There are two methods you can use.

1. Get a hook and snag it around the belly or middle of the snake. Lift it out of the tank and then hold the head with one of your hands and the rest of the snake with your other.

2. Basically same as before, reach into the tank, behind the head of the snake and lift the belly and neck at the same time.

Let the snakes body rest on your arm. Don't be afraid as snakes can sense your fear. Ball pythons are wonderful pets. Just make sure you don't pick them up the day before feeding or right after feeding.

If you pick them up right after a feeding they will most likely regurgitate their food and well... it's not pretty.

As for the snake wrapping around your neck, the best way I've found to get my snake off is to relax (yes it can be hard). Then take the tail of the snake and unwrap it gently.

i understand you acquire extra beneficial than sufficient information, yet i'm bored and that i've got one for you so what the hell. Ball pythons are for the main section rather docile. so as a techniques leaping at you or biting you, i does not anticipate it. it somewhat is basically going to love the reality which you're constructive and heat, and may be able to be somewhat extra energetic than as in case you have been protecting a pink tailed boa. basically once you %. it up get by using the top, and confirm you have maximum folk of something of the size and proceed to attain this jointly because it strikes. And to hellp you recover from the feat, have somebody with you, and carry it over it somewhat is cage in the commencing up. That way you could the two pass it off to somebody else or placed it back into the cage.

wash your hands before you pick it up,let the snake see you and just reach in and pick it up from the middle with one hand or use both hands, one in the middle and the other up by its head.like the one person wrote, ball pythons are shy, they call them ball pythons because it they get frightened they roll into a ball and hide their head,if a ball python bites you, that snake had to be mishandled and mistreated somewhere down the line.Ball pythons will not wrap around your neck to kill you or wrap around your arm and hold on ,they bit and let go,if you do get bitten, welcome to the wold of snakes, just don't let it scare you, wash the bit and start all over again.Even the best of us,will get bitten sooner or later

what i do is gently slide my hands under mine and carefully pick her up like you are part of the environment. just never squeeze them as they are fragile and a little pressure from an hand closed around her can break a few cartilage ribs. Also the place where you get her from can show you how to properly handle one. ask your vet also. its easier to show than to type directions. it takes a little finesse. But you should handle any snake gentle wether its a baby or adult. Adults can not get big enough to strangle you unless you let them. if they do coil around you, just gently unwrap her by the tail first and work your way up.

with any snake wash your hands before you attempt to handle because if you smell like their food they will bite, also don't just grab the snake try and reach underneath it, they see reaching from above as a threat, don't touch their head it also sees that as a threat and may strike and I wouldn't suggest reaching from behind the snake as that may scare it. hope this helped

just make sure you have the head under controll. You don't want the snake to kill you. Have someone near by to help you if the snake attacks. and yes that does work.

first of all make sure he knows your hand is in there and slowly put your hand toward his neck but behind its head. if it pulls its head back, pull your hand back slowly then try again. any and all animals will be a little scared of a hand coming in their home.
