Nancy Drew was first published in 1930. The first book was The Secret of the Old Clock.

I loved Nancy Drew as a kid, and still have all my books. They're fun to revisit every once in a while. They also have computer games that are a little fun.

Nancy Drew books of the 80's were just reprints of much older copies from the 50's or 60's and I do remember them having read all of them in the 70's.

The Nancy Drew books started in the 1920s and have been edited over the decades to match the era. Just about every girl under the age of 70 probably read one of them. They are still some of my most memorable books.

The author is Carolyn Keene but that was just a pen name for several different people.

I think the Nancy Drew books were written by a variety of authors, depending what 'era' you grew up in. I have a 'New' Nancy Drew adventure from the early Nineties somewhere.

None of them were written by Judy Blume, though she did refer to the Nancy Drew series in her semi-autobiographical 'Starring Sally J Freedman as Herself.' The lead character, Sally, enjoyed reading them.

EDIT: Nancy Drew Files! Those are the ones I used to read! Thanks, !professionaleccentric'! :)

YES! I loved them! I am into Stephen King now though. I wonder what it would be like to have a Nancy Drew meets Stephen King kinda thing?

I think most of those were the Nancy Drew FILES, in which she had aged from sixteen to eighteen.
