My son has a flat rash that just showed up on his stomach and back. He's been grumpier than usual today and I think he may have a fever. He hasn't been running a fever the last few days, so I don't think it is roseolla. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

For everyone who jumped on me for not going to the doctor, I already had an appointment for later in the afternoon, I was just very worried and wanted some advice as to what it could possibly be ahead of time. The doctor isn't sure what it is, said it should go away on it's own, but I would still appreciate advice from parents who have been in the situation before.

Maybe it's just me, but if my son had a rash and a fever I would call the Dr before I logged onto Yahoo Answers. Call the Dr, honey.

Get off the computer and go to a doctor. You shouldn't be wasting time asking for strangers' advice when it would be quicker and safer to go to a doctor and find out from someone who can see the rash, instead of asking people who can't see it what it might be. Sorry to be blunt, but the health of a child is a serious matter and time shouldn't be wasted.

Could be a virul rash whitch will clear on its own in 2-3 days or it could be eczema.Eczema is red little bumps sometimes dry sometimes look like ringworm or just little bumps. If you think it could be then no baby soap. You can get a cvs brand plain soap.If he has diareah or fever it is probably a virus.I would give him a few days to see if it goes away on it's own.If he does'nt seem to be getting better than go to doc.

It sounds like fifths disease, rash on upper torso and limbs, mild fever, irritable, it doesn't always have to show "red cheeks" but once its showing it's no longer contagious, funny huh? it usually fades from 8-14 days, no treatment just a little tylenol for the fever and irritability. my son had it last year around the same time.but he had the rosey glow on his cheeks. good luck!!! eczema wouldn't be a flat rash, it would be raised.

With my sons, a rash meant 1 of two things. Virus or strep throat. One needs treated, the other doesn't but you don't know which it is until you go to the doctor.

It may be heat rash. My daughter gets it alot, especially if she's running around and getting sweaty in the house. Put some baby powder on it. If it clears up overnight, it's heat rash. If it doesn't go away, talk to your pediatrician.
Good luck!
