Yes... it was here years ago on public TV... It was a pretty good comedy about the home guard in Britain during WWII... I liked it because I lived in the UK for four years which made it easy to understand and relate to...

I seem to remember, whilst in the States 8 or 10 years ago that a US colleague had just started watching BBC America and was enjoying watching BBC comedies such as "Dads Army", "Are you being served", "Last of the summer wine"

If it has ever been shown over there, it would have been on their PBS network.
Surprisingly, British sitcoms along the lines of "Are You Being Served?" have a cult following over there among those few Americans (and Canadians) who have seen them.
But for the most part, I suspect that a lot of people wouldn't understand any of it. And that is sad.

When I was quite young, it used to be shown on PBS, so I've seen it (although I'm Canadian, not a "Yank").
I remember it only vaguely...I know my mother liked it very much.
