If someone said one of those quotes, how would you refer to it? Someone suggested the word "subterfuge" but I think there is a more appropriate word.

For instance, I would think duplicity would be a closer description of this than sarcasm, but I still don't think that's the best word.

Sarcasm is a form of caustic wit intended to wound or ridicule another - so that doesn't apply.
