I can tell you that a girl plays on a high school team in my area, she plays Defensive Tackle and is on the Varsity team as a Junior, she has been playing football for 7? years (i think thats right). She loves the game, and she is good at it. I have been watching her play since she started (that team went 14-0 and unscored on - her dad was the coach too). Her name is Holly Mangold (little sister of Nick Mangold - new center for the NY Jets) and she was featured in a video on NFL.com - so no it's not wrong, but as she knows she has to live up to the challenge like every guy on the team, if she can't handle she doesn't belong.

If she can handle everything that comes with a predominantly male sport, than she should go for it. It won't be easy. It's not about the physical part of the equation, because girls can do anything boys can do. It's typically the mental abuse and b.s. that occurs when guys get together and have to be tough and hardcore that might offend or break you down. If you think you are tough enough to handle the mental abuse and the hazing, then go for it.
Just don't expect the fellas to treat you like a girl...if you want to play on their field they are going to treat you like one of them.
And that's what you want right?

No it's not wrong. I wish your friend the best of luck but tell her to be careful. Those guys are huge. Half of our team can bench 225+

It's a very violent and painful game... she should definately play with friends, but I'd suggest avoiding a team... especially a high school. Unless she plans on being a place kicker or punter.

no, it is very awkward for her and she may get seriously hurt. where will she change? can she handle getting made fun of because it will happen. tell her to play soccer or rugby or play in a flag football league
she could do it but it will probably not be fun for her anymore.

There is absolutely nothing wrong as long as she isnt expecting special treatment and is willing to put up with a lot of bullshit cuz a lot of people will be rooting for her to be cut.

As long as she is willing to work hard and not expect things to be easier on her because she's a girl then there is no problem with it.
