Is this just more European anti-Americanism or is it really that big a deal to you?

Well "soccer" is played with a ball and your feet, so it only makes sense to call it football. American football makes no sense to call it football, stupid Americans. The rest of the world calls "soccer" football and the name has always been football even before Americans started calling it football for themselves. American football is boring, there is 15 seconds of play and then you huddle, timeout and go to commercial. Waste of time.

It's not a big deal, but if you think about it, what Americans call soccer is played with the feet, and what they call football is played with the hands.
The whole world call it Football, except for US and Canada, American Football is more like American Rules Rugby than Football.
Even in spanish the game is called balompie (Football). So I don't know where the word soccer comes from. But it's not like people get offended for that.

that is a good question. there are some people on here who get so freakin' ticked off if someone calls it soccer and not football. i mean, it's like it's life or death or something! i would love it if they could just be happy calling it what they call it, football, and we could be happy calling it what we grew up calling it, soccer. i mean, as long as we know it's the same thing, then why does it even matter?
