We're the poorest state, but we give the MOST to charity, based on our incomes...yeah...hate on us for giving to the rest of the country! We also knew how to pick up and rebuild after Katrina; we didn't sit on our asses and cry! I live in Mississippi and I have just about my entire life, except the first few years of my life I lived in Louisiana.

I've been to NYC, Washington DC, and just about every state east of the Mississippi...I love it here. It's especially great after Katrina, because we made a name for ourselves in our strength and determination to grow into something greater after we were on the ground barely moving (because of the storm). Yeah we've been called the "worst state to live in" for seven years running....have your opinions, but until you come here and experience the greatness of this state and the wonderful people....ON THE COAST, then people have no reason to talk about how "terrible" we are.

From what I've read, it's the poorest state in the Union, and has the worst school system of any state in the nation. Other than that, I've spent very little time there. The area I did see was absolutely beautiful, but it seems to me that for the abovementioned reasons, it would be difficult to live happily ever after there.

Use to fly for a commuter airline and traveled to Mississippi often. Some of the dumbest people in the world. Second to Arkansas.

I love mississippi, it poduced the greatest quarterback for the packers, brett favre, took them to the superbowl in 97 and won. People in wisconsin still admire favre and mississippi.

Heavy racism going both ways. I try not to stop in this state, just drive through as quickly as possible.
