I´m a tattoo artist and my advise.......don´t lay your hands on a coil tattooo gun if you don´t know how to work with it........how do you want to do a good tattoo without knowledge about your gun.....???? There are a lot of different adjustments....depends on what you want to do.....lines, shades, color.....and this depends on the machine parts........back- /front-spring, armature bar, coils........etc........
Take a "rotary" tattoo gun..........you don´t need any adjustments with this guns.........only the speed...
Good luck with your tattoos........

Jim Martini makes a fine line of glass-smooth machines. They start at around four bills. Aaron Cain also has a line of top shelf custom machines. Micky Sharpz makes some quality irons, as well. The machines that come in kits are rip-off machines that come from China. The coils, frames, binding posts, springs, and contact screws are cheaply made, and you'll spend more time tuning them, than you will actually working with them. They aren't worth fifty cents. Aaron Cain has a sale going to benefit charity right now on e-bay. An average price on his new custom machines is five to eight hundred dollars. The proceeds go to help premature babies. These are very, very good machines warrantied for life. You get what you pay for, make no mistake about it. The kit machines are okay, I guess, until you throw 'em at the wall.
