OMG! First of all I love the Beatles....
1. I read a whole book dedicated to that....and it was just a hoax...to play the records backwards...if you play the records backwards...it destroys the vinyl....(they tricked fans to buy more albums....)
2. Paul just turned 64 this year....and he divorced his wife...hence, he is still alive.....

Not true, but, the walrus was paul.
Look at the Abbey Road album cover. Paul represents the corpse, his eyes are closed, and there is a 5th Beatle parked behind them with a plate that reads the apparen death date of paul.
Another album cover turned on it's side makes paul look as though he is in a Casket.

John may have been speaking metaphorically. He might have been saying that Paul had lost his ability to create lyrics which were pleasing to the masses.
