Did Israel do wrong in using cluster bombs in Lebanon?

Question

Israel has used cluster bombs in lebanon. This bomb's use in civilian areas is illegal, but was nevetheless used in Lebanon. The UN is now condeming Israel for having used these weapons in civilian areas. The problem now is that there are hundreds and hundreds of small, unexploded cluster bombs, waiting to explode when kids or civilians who return to their war torn homes get next to it accidentally.
The think that is mostly shocking is that Israel used these bombs at the end of the war, when a peace deal was nearing.

So what do you think? did Israel did wrong? if you think not, can you tell me why? Can you tell me why you would defend a country that uses weapns like cluseter bombs in civilian areas?

Cambion7, you are nothing but an ignorant, unknolegeable person who knows nothing but to talk. When Israel puts palestinians in camps, takes their freedom away, gives them NO hope nor future, how could you defend it for doing so? how could you think that kidnapping 2 soldiers SHOULD lead to the destruction of whole country?
Children were killed on both sides, how can you defend only one side? how can you regard one side's lives as more worthy than the other? people like you should think twice before answering intellectual and serious postings.

Yes, I think it was wrong, but it was no more wrong then Hezbollah moving in and amongst the Lebanese civilians as cover.

God help everyone in that region and forgive the lengths they will go to to hurt each other. I don't think that there is much 'right' there anymore, although I do think Israel has the right to exist.

Nothing is simple in the Middle East, and I am sure that many, many people of both faiths (and Christians too) just want to live their lives in peace. It's too bad that they can't.

Although I have to say- it makes me laugh when people say they want complete destruction of their neighbor, Israel....and then in the same breath complain that the Israelis don't treat them fairly. That's hypocrisy in any culture.

Israel has the right to defend itself against any enemy that attacks them. If it means cluster bombing then that's good enough for me. The UN is a freaking joke anyway. They were supposed to be in Lebanon to observe and make sure Hezbollah wouldn't re-arm and re-group. They had several years to do just that and the UN did squat. And now, under the cease fire, the UN Peacekeepers (that rape little girls in the Sudan) are supposed to prevent Hezbollah from regrouping and re-arming but the UN is not allowed to enter the Pakistan refugee camps in Lebanon where, suprise suprise, Hezbollah is now re-arming and re-grouping.

If you're going to attack a country, be ready to pay the consequences. What some of you fail to realize is these militant islamic groups want all jews in Israel dead dead dead and dead. It's the rise of a new Nazi army, yet all the liberal cry-babies can say is "poor poor Lebanon." What the heck did Lebanon do to help prevent these attacks? NOTHING! Yellow-spined weaklings.

Edit #2: To the poster of this mindless liberal drivel. You pay homage to those that openly state that Isreal should be wiped off the face of the earth. Muslim bombs killing jews are good. they did not use enough of them
