Scoring: The scoring system in Tennis is quite unique. The first point you win, it's 15, the next is 30, then 40 then, you win the GAME. In tennis, there are a lot of times where you must "Win by 2", this is one of them. If you and your opponent both reach 40, they call it DUECE. The person who win the next point will then be at ADVANTAGE. If that person wins that next point he/she will win the GAME, if not they go back to duece and do it again.

SET: In order to win a set you must win at least 6 GAMES... and win by two. If you and your opponent reach 5 games then it will take 7 GAMES to win the SET. If you both win 6 GAMES then you play a tie-breaker where the first person to win at least 7 points (and win by 2) will then win the SET

MATCH: To win a match, for men, it's the best 3 SETS out of 5, for women, it's best 2 SETS out of 3.

1. Most tennis matches, men and women, are best 2 out of 3 sets. In the Grand Slam Tournaments - Wimbledon, French, Australian, and US- the men play 3 out of 5, the women still play 2 out of 3. 2. The lines are always in, so yes, if the serve his any part of the line, it is considered a good serve, even if only one hair of the ball grazes the line. 3. Yes, you must return the ball before a second bounce or you lose the point. 4. Players switch sides on odd games - so after the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th etc. games in a set. 5. An unreturnable serve is called an ace. 6. A series of good hits made by the opposing player isn't called anything - but if the players keep returning the ball, it is said to be a good rally. 7. To serve, a player must stand behind the baseline, or it results in a footfault.

The first person to 6 (by 2) wins the set.

The amount of sets in a match depends on the tournament.

In a non-professional match, the match could be decided on just 1 set (i.e. between friends, or for a high school team), or it could be Best 2 out of 3 (usually in non-pro competitions, this is true)

In the pros, most matches are Best 2 out of 3.

In the Grand Slams (Wimbledon, US Open, French Open, Austrailian Open):
Women: Best 2 out of 3
Men: Best 3 out of 5
