You sound stressed. Perhaps you need to talk to someone you trust - a neutral family member or friend or maybe a counsellor. You can talk through your issues and work through the stress with them.
Also try doing some exercise like jogging (v.good for stress) and yoga a few hours before bedtime, have a bath for bedtime & relax by reading a nice book, glass of milk & listening to soothing music.

this could be a depression sign,
try some gentle exercises , warm bath(not immediately before sleeping), avoid doing anything in bed leave it just for the purpose of sleeping and get out immediately if u r not able to sleep for more than half an hour, relaxing music and sex have a good effect on sleeping.
there r lots of medication too but am not sure about how serious ur symptoms r, try to get some counseling from ur GP
be positive and good luck

Same here, but I'll bet it's fordifferent reasons to you.Ok because I think your problem sounds like stress...
*Take an existential perspective, think ofyourlife in the 3rd person
*Imagine the most important things in the world, then think of your own problems
*Muse on the freedom of life and reality, we are free to think anything, feel any emotion, do as we wish (within reason).
Further, you can comfort yourself be you atheist, agnostic, or deist with the thought that..well this aint that bad
*pretend you are someone else (maybe with a shi*tier life)
*Drink hot chocolate before going to bed
*Read a passage of the new testament; that makes me feel chilled out and holy!

Try to convince yourself that waking up at 3am isn't going to solve the worlds problems.

Try watching tv or a movie or something to get your mind to stop thinking about whatever is on your mind. I alway watch like qvc or home shopping network. It always puts me to sleep. Good luck...also try over-the-counter sleep aid...that helps too.

It could be worse, you could be a dyslexic, agnostic insomniac, you'd be lying awake all night pondering if there really is a DOG.

go to the doctors! he/she may be able to prescribe you something for sleep, or to cure why you can't sleep.
