x is a variable not a number.
-x just means to negate whatever value 'x' contains.

If X = 0 or if X < 0 then the result would not be negative

The result would equate - X or (-1) * (X)
If X= 0 the result would be 0, not negative
If X < 0 the results would be 2 negative numbers multiplied to = a positive number
If X > 0 then it would be negative

That would depend on what the value for x is. If x is a negative, than -x would be positive .

If x is a positive number, than yes it is a negative number.

x is a variable that we use to identify an unknown number. If the actual value of x is less then zero (or a negative number) than -x will be a positive number.
If the value of x is greater than zero (or a positive number), than the value of x will be a negative number.
For example, if x = +1, then -x = -1
If x = -2, then -x will be -(-2) = +2.

Not necessarily, if x is a positive number than -x would be a negative number. But if x is a negative number -x would be a positive number. It all depends on x.

The term (-x) is a negative number only if,

x > 0

That means that if x takes a positive value, the resultant term will produce a negative result.

e.g. x = 10

The resultant term is

- x = - (10) = -10

A negative result.

However, if x < 0, for example x = -5

- x = - (-5) = 5

Then the result will be a positive number.

-x can be either possitvie or negative you just need the value of x, you see a negative times a negative equals a possitive while a negative times a possitive equals a negative, so if the value of x=5 then -x=-5 but if x=-5 then -x=--5 which equals to the equation -1*-5= 5 so depending if x is possitive or negative -x can equal either

the "-" symbols just represents the opposite of... so if the number that the variable x represents is positive it will result in a negative number. If the variable x refers to a negative integer it will be positive so to answer the question: Not necessarily, but it is plausible.

If x>0 then -x<0. -x is negative.
