I have a bog or wetland area in my backyard, does anyone have any idea how to landscape this??

It is overgrown with cattails and other ugly plants and weeds, and I would like to make it look more attractive. It measures about 50 ft long and about 8 ft wide.

First of all DO NOT follow Bill's advice. It is illegal and is an expensive solution that is not necessary.

Without knowing what zone you are in makes the recommendations difficult. But, you can try Sagitaria spps., Ponditaria, Carex, Lobelia, and a variety of different native grasses. Again without knowing where you are it is difficult. Cunsult a landscaper with experience in wetland remediation or another professional.

Well, I would buy a book on bog gardening. Also, do some research and find which nurseries in your area sell bog plants. It can be done. I would suggest buttonbush. It's a large shrub with white flowers in summer.

you could have some neat driftwood, unusual rocks
you could attract frogs and turtles, maybe ducks

you can put in cat tails and pond lillies and other water plants and put fish in it and plant other plants around it and you will have a place for wild life if you like to have the wild life to come to your bog or wet lands, turtls and all kinds

hmmm if this is wet lands and it is stated on a map as such or on ur survey as such u better not touch it.......its a Federal protected area and the army core of engineers have control over this area...one guy here in my area did the same thing ur talking about, cost him $ 150,000.00 i know this cause he went to my wife's bank to borrow the money to pay the fine!!
