May their souls rest in peace. I believe democracy and freedom are always under threat but to really destroy them is impossible.
I personally do wish and believe the quest for freedom and democracy will win. But it is another question if most countries among them the US are really helping or are part of the ugly mess. About the lies, yes unfortunately it seems that way and most likely simply is!? Most Americans believe in them, do they or are they convinced due to media and other similar reasons?

A US General also stated the Iraqi's should be able to take control in 12-18 months. Do you know how many people died on US highways today? Just curious. Could you give us the specific lies and the facts you are using to back them up along with a reference to said facts. That would help or do you just eat up what the media tells you as fact in their blurbs and soundbytes?

unfortunately the alternative would be even more deaths from an all out civil war. Democracy and Freedom are mere ideals there...but it took us 5 years after the Declaration of Independence before we defeated Cornwalis (British). Can't we give Iraqi democracy some time too?

a friend of mine once said "this is the land of the free and the home of the brave, but the free will always be indebted to the brave". you are free to ask these questions; are you brave enough to defend your right to ask them? if you really think america is no longer a defender of freedom, what are you doing to combat it? the fact that this message board exists is evidence against you. try asking the same question to george w bush. i guarantee he will not have you arrested and promptly executed. try the same thing in most third world countries - or even some "1st world" countries. see what happens - if you are brave enough. it is easy to defend freedom when it costs you so little.

Study history.

It took years to transform Germany back into an "acceptable" (for lack of a better word at the moment, I'm in a rush) nation after WW2, and almost 2 decades to do the same in Japan. WHay assume we can do it overnight in a nation that has far less common culture and history with us?
