My experience:

Where I work (convience store) there was this guy that was standing at the lotto machine, and you could tell that he had been working in the sun all day. He was poring sweat, and leaning on the counter like it was the only thing holding him up. As I walked by him I said "You look hot" meaning...well, not what he thought I meant. But it's all good. We had a good laugh about it, now everytime he walks in he looks for me and says "Hey Hottie" and I say it back to him.

You just reminded me of something that happened years ago! I didn't actually say anything, but I was working at my computer and happened to look up as a supervisor walked by. I guess something got in my eye, and it made me blink, only one of my eyes, so it looked like I was winking at him! He blushed and smiled, and I was embarrassed! I was married with three kids and he was a few years younger than I was. Thanks for the memory! :-)

Yes, once I was assigned a partner for an investigation project and he was much older, anyway we finished the work I almost did his part too and the day that we presented our work, he called me again to say to me that he wanted to give me a gift.
I think that he misunderstood my niceness with him, and he kept calling but I wouldn't answer. He was old and not my type at all.

HA HA HA !!!
Lord yes I have done that before and it doesn't help that I call everyone honey...I hate to do that I feel so dumb afterwards. Which most the time I make a fool out of myself everywhere I go.

Yah, this happens all the time to me and my friends. If a girl is nice to an ugly guy, the ugly guy always assumes she's hitting on him. Blech.

dude don't lead him on.
i read that saying to myself "YOU'RE STUPID!"
don't take it literally, i'm preetty dumb, myself but yeah.
i wouldn't lead him on if i were you. unless you really do like him. and why do you see him everyday. you work there? and so now he visits you everyday. yeah i really don't understand the situation. but whatever it is your life. :]
