I have become close friends with a member of the opposite sex whom my other friend was casually aquainted. Now she is very jealous and makes remarks like, "I knew him first." and "doesn't your husband care"? and "You know he and his wife have been very happy." Now she's trying to get close to him. I don't think she cared much about him until I got close with him. She seems enraged that he likes me so much. His wife knows about our friendship and doesn't care, nor does my husband. We're just friends. We're not hiding anything or doing anything wrong. We just talk. We even talk to our spouses about each other. I have reason to believe she's trying to put ideas into his wife's head to cause trouble. Why is she so jealous? She never cared before. She seems to feel he's her property or something.

I think your friend acts like a child. lol
It's like you go to street with your best friend and you want to buy something very much, she knows that; but the next day she bought it. You would be mad at her too!

If both of your spouses know your relationship, it's okay and four of you may go dinner together. It may help building trust among youself.

Keep an eye on your friend, don't let her go too far. Sometimes words are more dangerous than action.
You too, keep acceptable distance with that guy. No matter how pure your friendship is, you are still married, and others will talk.

You are right...boy/gal friend should be your best friend. More often then not having friends of the opposite sex does ruin a relationship but some times it also makes a relation stronger .The trust two people have in each other would be stronger then the misunderstanding that arise if they are truly in love.

Maybe your friend wants more to do with this guy than just friends. Or she could really be jealous that you're spending time with him and talking to him when she wants you to talk to her. She could be missing you. You should sit down with her and find out whats going on in her head. Maybe she really believes that you and this guy have a thing and she could feel that its very wrong of you to do that.

Some people get jealous when a friend get closer with one of their friends than they did with them. It may be she feel less than a friend because you are both so close, or she feels left out, or she misses your friendship or his since you got close, or she could just be jealous if you in general. She will need to get over it or risk making a fool of herself and loosing both friends.

You better be careful, she could be dangerous, she is not a friend, if she has to compete with you, for the friendship of others. Ask her what is her problem? Ask her is it something that you are missing? because you just don't get it, she never acted this way before. give her the opportunity to express her self.
