As far as I know, your risk of developing it is as high as for any other person.

30 to 60% of the world is infected and never knows, so don't worry to much about it.

Congenital toxoplasmosis is a special form in which an unborn child is infected via the placenta. This is the reason that pregnant women should be checked for Toxoplasma antibodies. A positive titer indicates previous exposure and immunity and largely ensures the unborn baby's safety.

This would mean you are actually safer. Hows that?

Toxoplasmosis is a parasite that happen during pregnancy, the doctor usually give you a medication for this.
But some cases, it pass to their baby (it can cause some birth defect or go away by itself).
To avoid toxoplasmosis, before you get pregnant you should check to your doctor (blood test etc).
But if you already pregnant, you should check with your doctor asap in early pregnancy.

My mother had toxoplasmosis...she was born with it too. My sister and I didn't get it. I don't think it can effect your unborn child as long as you are careful. Ask your doctor at your appointment to be sure!
