I started my own electric repair company about 6 years ago. The business has really taken off and now I would like to sell it to add some money to my retirement. How would I go about doing this? How do I give my business the exposure it needs to sell to a prospective buyer? Is there a market for this?

Try to find a competitor who would love to take you out. you might even offer to work for them for a while.

First off, depending on where you are located, you have have to decide whether to sell it as a share sale or an asset sale. Luckily I was getting my year end done at the accountant and mentioned I had a buyer, he asked whether it was an asset or share sell, I said an asset sale because that what the Realtor wants. He said of course he would want that because it's less paper work for him. The accountant said "got a couple of minutes, I'll show you. Well that couple of minutes saved me over $50,000
