i am 37 weeks pregnant this week, i had a weekly check up yesterday and the doctor told me my cervix has opened to the size of a dime and that i will be leaking mucus type stuff pretty soon.

The size of a dime means your cervix has opened 1-2 cm. Some women walk around at 3-4 cm for weeks before going into labor. For others, things happen fairly rapidly. There is really no way to tell when you will go into labor, but dilation is better than no dilation. Pat yourself on the back for the work your body has done thus far, and make sure your bags are packed just in case. Then it's all just a big wait. you are not in labor doctors dont classify it labor until you are at least 4 cm and then you may walk around for a week or two before you begin active labor. dont get yourslef to anxious or worked up thinking you baby is comming right away some women do efface very quickly however if you are not one of those women and you have it in your head the baby is comming tommrow and then you end up having to wait 5 more weeks (and if your 37 weeks along it can take up to 5 more weeks) you will become very discouraged and miss out on these last precious weeks of pregnancy.

Chances are good that it could be a week or so before that bundle of joy arrives. I was at 1 centimeter for about a week..then went straight to 5..but after 17 hours of labor with no pain meds..still did nothing. Just get what you need in order for the baby to come home, and relax. This is probably the last week youll have that "ancey" feelin! GOOD LUCK!

I am the mother of 3 children. He is telling you that you have dialated some. I dialated 2-3 and still didn't go into labor. I wasn't induced until 1 1/2 weeks that. So it shouldn't be that long. Good luck and congrats!!!

That just means your body is preparing for labor in the next few weeks.

It means that you are dialating,and yes your baby is on its way.It all depends on how quickly you dialate.When you get 10cm,Your cervice will be roughly the size of a soccer ball,so you have a ways to go yet....Congratulations!!!!!

Yes it does mean that you should be going into labor anyday now.
In the future please ask your doctor questions when they tell you something you are so unsure about. Never leave the office till your questions are answered. I always do.

you can open alot more be your labor. iwas at 2 for almost 3 weeks be for i had my baby
