I completed an internship this past summer at a major corporation. They really liked my work, and because of my distant graduation date, they weren't able to make me a job offer. However, they want me to stick around, and complete a second internship with them this summer....

I loved the internship, it was great, and worth my time. However, it has nothing to do with my field of study, and i'd rather pursue an internship from a corp. within my field... How can I decline, without completely shutting the door? (incase I do wish to come back someday..)

discuss the situation with the corporation, and mention that you would like to pursue your first interest over the next summer to see if that truly is your dream job. However, you would like to keep in contact with them since you truly enjoyed your past internship, and would like the opportunity to discuss future options as you develop further.

Tell them how much you enjoyed your time there in a thank you letter to them, but explain that at this time you are pursuing experience in an area closer to your chosen field. Let them know that if anything changes you will let them know, but you must stay closer to your path of education at this time. Sounds like you are a valued potential employee. Do they have anything at that corp. close to what you are studying?

Write a letter like this:

"While I appreciate your invitation for my participation in the intership, I am currently unable to accept the offer. Should a similar opportunity arise in the future date, I would be thankful if can be given the opportunity."

You do not need to explain why you are not interested at this time.

I believe Barbara. purely decline the invite to the MOH, and deliver a separate remorseful about in case you want to Jane. this is type of commonplace besides for a MOH to be throwing an engagement get mutually.

Say:

"Thank you for the offer of the opportunity with your company, but my educational requirements have recently changed and I need to refocus my current priorities and paths along different lines--for now. Please allow me to contact you in the future when I can return to this specific industry."
