I would start by making yourself a web page at geocities or any other free web page site. Once you've used their automatic web page software, you'll be inclined to learn HTML, just to make it look better. Making web pages is lots of fun.
There are many web sites offering free web page items, like automation's, counters, backgrounds, etc. Just do a search for "free web" and you'll be buried with sites.
The more web pages you make, the better you get. Unless your like me, colorblind, with bad taste. I can make them dance and sing with the best of them, but they will never look as good as someone with style.

If by "automated" you mean dynamic...learn PHP. It's the quickest path to dynamic web development. Once you learn about variable variables you'll be in love.
