It helps with spatial development and problem-solving skills. It can be mental stimulation for some students, and it can be a break from the norm for others. Students who don't excel in reading might really excel in doing something different like mazes. It's good for them to feel successful at stuff. :)

I suppose the stimulate your strategic thinking and help with how you decipher things. It isn't something that you learn by doing it, therefore it's not educational, but overall it should help you with strategic thinking.

Trial and error. It's like: don't give up or else you'll be trapped and starve to death. It's a good way to get people to finish what they started.
