I was told that it something you can make to age copper faster to get the green effect?

ammonia, But not all copper will turn just green, some turn a bronze color. Also there could be a lacquer finish on the copper. You would have to brush it with steel wool if it does. You may need to apply a number of times for it to age.

The green effect is called patina - they do sell products that will add patina to copper - check Home Depot.

We use to put brass (part copper) in sulfur springs and it would be totally green overnight. Try sulfur water.

You can get a patina product from a stained glass company
stainedglassfactory.com should have it.

Dilute acid, I think. Don't know for sure. Might try a drop of lemon juice or vinegar, keep it in a bottle to keep the humidity high, come back in a week. *shrug*

I think I have heard somewhere that ammonia increases oxidation dramatically.
