Definitely not. When those hormones get to cooking, planning, an exercise involving reason, is no where in the picture for most couples. Sure there are some deliberate planners, but in the heat of the moment the plan isn't the purpose. There are stupid teenage girls that want a baby in the worst way and go about bedding willing boys at every opportunity (notice I didn't say prospective fathers, that is too reasonable, as in finding someone to share the responsibilities of a child). There are those also whose hormones drive them to copulation (early psychologists called it a sex drive for a reason) and babies are the last things in mind. It isn't just teenagers, but they are an abundant resource of examples since they often haven't much practice in exercising self-control (which from my recollection of those years was more difficult than algebra). Despite decades of activism by Planned Parenthood, parenting has little to really do with planning.

No , the unplaned rate in the US at least is 3 million a year (I've heard up to 3.4) and the number of birth a year is 4,000,000 however I would assume that most people who are married do want to have kids at some point but are not really trying.

I cannot speak for other people but I can sure tell you mine were not. I think age plays a bigger part in that question. It seems to me anyway that younger the couple chances are it was not planned, the older the couple it was planned out.

20 years ago? Probably. Now? No. I doubt it with all the teen pregnancy going on. What teen plans on getting pregnant, except the crazy ones.

Maybe not planned exactly but when we got married we knew we were going to have kids. We just didn't know when. out of 3 kids only one was timed

Most couples don't plan families. They plan to plan for families. They are first shocked, then frightened, then accepting, and finally overjoyed.

No. Sometimes they just happened. Some people plan kids though so their one kid doesn't get lonely, or for financial planning(baby food, education, college, etc).
