I think this is an easy question... i think everyone that doesnt follow the red sox would say they miss Big Papi and manny ramirez the most.. however, look at the stats since we lost JASON VARITEK! The sox miss there captain more than anyone on that team.. since his injury the team ERA is up by over 1! The sox began there "freefall" the moment he got injured! We need his leadership behind the plate! Obviously we need papi and manny back but we need our LEADERSHIP back most of all!

From a leadership standpoint they miss Varitek. He has the confindence of the pitchers to throw what he calls for. Manny and Papi are the 2 most feared hitters in the AL and hit back to back so of course they are missed as well. They are not a playoff team with anyof them out of the mix.

JASON VARITEK is the problem. The pitchers are better when he is there. Unfortunately I think this season is over for them. Good luck next year. Always bad when the Yankees win the East.

I think they miss Ted Williams' severed head the most.
They should put it in a jar full of formaldehyde in left field until Manny Ramirez can go out there again.

Kevin Millar and Johnny Daman gave the Sox their attitude. Honestly....they haven't been the same at all without them. They have the talent; but not the attitude that is needed to win.

okay, although tek wasn't producing offensively, i have to admit that the pitching has stunk under the calls of mirabelli and especially lopez. let's hope papi, manny and tek are doing well and coming back soon!

Varitek is what they need the most. He's the guy who helps the pitchers. Lopez stinks and Mirabelli is there for the knuckler who is on the DL.

I would say you are correct. They never found a catcher as good as Veritek. The free fall started when Nixon went down.
