You should read out loud.

Like read books, magazines, poetry, anything with words out loud.

This gives your brain some exercising time.

Also, try thinking how you want the word to sound before you say it.

And if this happens when you're nervous, just relax and take a deep breath.

But reading out loud does help, especially when the book contains the words you stammer more often.

Read a passage or a poem daily. Pronouce every word correctly and clearly. Read slowly on the first day and gradually increase the speed. This will improve the free flow of words when you speak. Do this for about 3 months and you would not stammer thereafter.

You can learn synonyms for those words and if you feel the stammering coming on you can quickly change words. Also, be sure and slow down when you talk. I know a guy who talks really fast and stumbles over so many words.

A great Country Music singer named Mel Tillis used to studder and stammer when he talked so bad it was irritating to listen to him. He over came his problem by singing his sentences in the privacy of his home. Try it.

Go to the home page and type in stammering or stuttering.

Read what it has to say & then check out the method. You can do it for yourself or find someone in your area to help you.

some people experience stammering when they speak too fast, you could start by pacing yourself and speak slower especially when it comes to troubled words, try to sound your words properly and try not to drag your speech, this will help you control your stammering.

you should try and get in touch with a speech pathologist. you may have a dental or mandibular problem that causes you to stutter or it could just be a nervous habit. in any case, a speech pathologist and/or therapist should be just the ticket. and in most cases, i believe insurance covers the cost if you get a referral from you doctor.
