Let me answer that by a few questions to you.
a) Do you think that anyone else But Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi would have given up his Law practice in South Africa to take an active part in India Revolution?
b) Do you think that without Gandhi Ji, Indian rural masses would have awakened to the idea of " Ahimsa “?
c) Do you think that without Gandhi ji, India would have been able to be successful in the ' Civil Disobedience Movement ‘?
d) Do you think that any on else other than Gandhi ji would have been able to come up with and succeed in the idea of ' Satyagraha ‘?
e) Do you think that anyone else but Gandhi Ji would have been successful in leading the Indian masses in " Quit India Movement “?
g) Do you think that any else in India but Gandhi Ji could have inspired and developed the tenet of " Swaraj " (Self-governance is an abstract concept that refers to several scales of organization. It may refer to personal conduct or family units but more commonly refers to larger scale activities, i.e. professions, industry bodies, religions and political units, up to and including autonomous regions and aboriginal peoples (or others within nation-states who enjoy some sovereign rights). It falls within the larger context of governance and principles such as consent of the governed, and may involve non-profit organizations and corporate governance.
It can be used to describe a people or group being able to exercise all of the necessary functions of power without intervention from any authority, which they cannot themselves alter. Self-rule is associated then in contexts where there is the end of colonial rule, absolute government or monarchy, as well as demands for autonomy by religious, ethnic or geographic regions, which perceive themselves as being unrepresented or underrepresented in a national government. It is therefore a fundamental tenet of republican government and democracy as well as nationalism) in India?
f) Do you think that any one else but Gandhi Ji would have led a nationwide campaign against ' Untouchability ‘?
Think about the answers to all this and then decide whether Gandhi ji should be considered or if Gandhi ji is suitable to be called the " Father of the Nation ".

If Gandhiji would have lived longer then it is for sure that he would have been a forgotten hero today. He always tried to appease Muslims, which was not correct. I SAY WHEN THE CONSTITUTION HAS GIVEN EQUAL RIGHTS TO EVERY CITIZEN OF INDIA THEN WHAT THE HELL IS 'MINORITY COMMUNITY'. this all is politically mismanaged for their own gains. If we treat the constitution in true letter and spirit then no body would have hated any body based on caste, religion etc. WE SHOULD BEHAVE AND LIVE LIKE, JUST INDIANS...

NO ! M.K. Gandhi was a clever Buissness man, becoming National HERO was a great gain for him rather than a Practicing Lawyer in South Africa. This dude caused lots of confusions among Hindus & Muslims in 1947, Pakistan was born because of M.K.Gandhi. Gandhi & Pandit Nehru these duo were puppets of British Govt. --- whatever Indian National problems we are sufferring today, are because of this duo. M.K.Gandhi can be called father of his own spoiled sons, Not a Father of Nation...

I REALY FIND IT VERY DISHEARTENING THAT THE PRESENT GENERATION IS ASKING SUCH QUESTIONS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT DONE THEIR HOMEWORK. NO DONT SELECT MY ANSWER AS THE BEST ANSWER, I DONT REALLY CARE, IT DOES NOT MATTER. BUT YOU THINK THAT BY YOUR ASKING SUCH QUESTIONS, YOU WILL CREATE A DISCOURSE, WHEN ALL HAS BEEN SETTLED AND THE WORLD HAS ACCEPTED, EXCEPT SOME PEOPLE LIKE YOU, THAT PEOPLE LIKE MAHATMA GANDHI, MARTIN LUTHER KING, NELSON MANDELA, COME ONCE IN A GENERATION. THEY SACRIFICED THEIR LIFE AND ALL THAT THEY HAD SO PEOPLE LIKE YOU CAN HAVE A FREE STYLE SUCH AS THAT EXPRESSED BY YOU TODAY. BE GRATEFUL YOU ARE NOT LIVING IN RUSSIA OR ANY COMMUNIST STATE.
