If you posted bond through a bail bondsman, just call them and revoke the bond because the person is a flight risk.
Then contact the courts that you posted bond and have heard he is now a flight risk.
If those options don't work you have lost $10,000. Don't post bond for anyone except your own mother.

If your friends skips town he'll have 6 months after his first scheduled court date to make an appearance in court. If he doesn't you're both screwed. Sorry to say it but you will most likely lose that dough you fronted to post bail. If I was you I'd make damn good and sure that he appears in court. Whatever you have to do, make sure he goes. After it's all said and done and he is sentenced that is when you can get your money back. Good luck, I know a couple really big scary dudes that may be willing to ehem....give him an escort to the courthouse. Just throwin' that out there (j/k).

I hate to do this, but.... call the bond company if you went through a bail bondsman and tell them you want to pull the bond, he's a flight risk. They will do the rest.
If you ponied up to the court, you can call the district attorney assigned to the case and tell him the same thing, see if he is willing to ask the court to revoke the bond, issue an arrest warrant and bring your friend in before he skips town instead of waiting to see if he shows.
NEVER post bond for anyone again.... :)

Contact the police and tell them you posted his bail and now he's talking about leaving town and not showing up to court- Usually, if the police consider someone a flight risk they'll go get him and lock him back up and make him go to court.

Call the court, tell them you posted bail for him, and ask them if you can revoke your bail bond. Some states will allow you to do this, some will require you to show just cause (in which case you tell them that he plans on leaving town), but in some cases they won't give it back. Can't hurt to try...

You can't get it back. You gave it up, and your friend used you. You can try suing him, but if he is leaving town to avoid his court date, do you think he will stick around to pay you?
next time, let your friends rot in jail where they belong. $10,000 bond is the sign of a very serious crime, and you shouldn't have posted.

If he is planning to leave town and cheat you out of $10,000, he is no friend. Call the police or better yet, a solicitor, and have his buttocks placed right back in the slammer.Unless, you don't mind throwing away $10,000.

Your friend must go to every court appearance each and every time the judge handling his/her case requires.
"If the defendant "skips", the cosigner (you) is immediately responsible for the full amount of the bail. If the defendant is located and arrested by the bail agent the cosigner is responsible for all expenses the bail agent incurs while looking for the defendant."

The ONLY way you will get that $$ back, is if he shows up in court on the date he is expected to show.
Definitly report he is a flight risk to the police.
Next time, let them sit in jail!
