I just turned 40, had my annual, everything came back great, normal, then my cycle went crazy, for the past 2-mons. I 've had spotting almost everyday, period came 10-days early and has stuck around now on day 9, it's not heavy, no pain or cramps, informed my doctor and she isn't worried, I'm wondering why that is, shouldn't there be a concern? Have any of you gone through this?

I have a lot of friends in their 40s who are experiencing the same kind of changes in their cycles. They are told its peri-menopause. It may be time to go buy a natural progesterone cream to help even out your hormones. I know its helped a lot of them.

I would definitely monitor your situation and if you continue to consistently have 9 day periods, I would make sure your doctor has checked for fibroids or anything like that. Both of my sisters had those symptoms and it ended up being fibroid related.

You are now "pre-menopausal". These symptoms are caused by your body's fluctuating hormone balance. Up to now your body has maintained a balance between the estrogens, progesterone, LH, and FSH. That is what regulated your menses. Now as you approach menopause these levels start to fluctuate, as these hormones are produced in decreasing amounts.....This can be problematic depending on the symptoms. Please consult a Physician that is experienced in HRT (hormone replacement therapy).
You will need a blood or saliva test to measure your actual hormone level then an experienced doctor can and will prescribe the replacement hormone(s)

I've gone through what you're going through, except I'm 35. More than once my period lasted 2 weeks or more, but then it went away. It's common.
