I'd like to rebuild my stock '97 Z-28 to a 383 stroker. I want approx 350 horsepower rear wheels. LT 1 is stock. What's the best way of doing it?

I would recommend buying a crate engine from someone who has a wide variety available. I am including a web site with a chart for almost any conceivable use.
Knowing the 350 fairly well, I don't think you want a 383 unless you want either more torque or lots more power as you can get up to 375 hp and great torque and still have a daily driver.

If you want a true 350 hp at the rear wheels, then you will need a motor that puts out about 425-450 net at the flywheel.

Often one can spend more money on a performance rebuild than buying a brand new crate motor, or after market build. Here is a link to a 383 that can hit 450 hp, yet costs the same as a crate motor. Comes with a warranty too.

To get 350 to the rear wheels you dont need a stroker. They already put 260 on average. Get a good cold air intake, some long tube headers, and 3" catback with a high flow cat. That should put down around 310. If the car is automatic get a 2800 rpm stall converter and a B&M shift kit. If its 6spd get a set of 4:10 rear gears! All that will make the car feel totally different for much less than a stroker motor!
