When i try to type the pound sign on my keyboard this appears instead #. When i try to type #, this appears \ . Quite a few other characters don't correspond either. I've tried Control Panel Regions, made sure its set to English. I can make £ see, by holding down Alt, pressing 0163 on numerical pad, but its a pain. Does anyone know how to make every single character appear as its supposed to.

Open Control Panel

At the top left of window change view to Classic View

Regional and Language Options

In Regional Options ensure that English (United Kingdom) is selected

Further down that dialog box, where it says Location, click on the drop down menu and select United Kingdom

Click OK and you're there

Close control Panel and get on with using your computer.

check your regional settings as well - start, settings, control panel, regional and language options. This can sometimes affect what characters show up on your keyboard (even though you would think this would be under the keyboard settings)

Is it set to UK English or US English? That might be why you have the # instead of £.
