it depends on the type of foundation that you use.
a liquid foundation can look flawless if applied correctly. instead of using sponges or wedges, invest in a foundation brush. don't apply foundation like you are painting your face (long strokes) but in circular motions. A foundation brush really and the right foundation really make the face look absolutely beautiful. the foundation brush really makes all the difference.
good luck luv!

To apply foundation, you want to use a sponge or a brush. Pour some of the foundation onto your hand or a plate rather than directly onto the sponge. This way you can control the amount of product you use on your face. Before you apply the foundation make sure that you put the proper amount of mosturizer on your face. This way the foundation can blend into your skin. Also make sure that you blend it into your jawline. A little foundation can blend a long way, so don't use too much. After you apply the foundation you can put a translucent powder with a powder puff onto your face. This will make it look more natural as if it were your own skin.

I recommend MAC foundation they have such a better quality of long lasting shades! If you have oily skin don't use oil based foundation try a powder and vice versus! Then buy a concealer for your face and very lightly use a foundation brush (provided maximum coverage) this will cover the small dark spots then take and dab the brush lightly into your foundation and begin to apply it remember to leave the spots that reflect more light which are in the nape of your to lip, the tip of your nose, the apples of your cheek bones and chin free of foundation. Now take some blotch powder skin toned or (bronzer for a dewy look) and brush it all over the face very lightly including the area of the face that don't have any foundation coverage. Once you are done take the powder brush and remove any access lightly. Remember less is more and the lesser you use the more natural you will look!!!!! For the Sun kissed effect remember to use bronzer and or eye shadows that are sheer, brown and or Rosy with a mildly orange undertone!!!!!!!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!1

Instead of apply it with your fingers, get a sponge or brush. If you mess up and it looks cakey, take it off instead of trying to cover it up more. Also, when it is dried into place, gently brush some powder the same color as you skin tone over it. It will stay on longer and it will make it look more natural.

soak your sponge with water. use wedges for more precision. then start in the middle of your face and work your way out. Start applying foundation on your cheeks right under your eyes then work toward your ears. that way if there is any excess it moves toward your face outline and is less obvious. Do your nose while doing your cheeks. then do your chin in a downward motion along with your upper lip. the last place should you your forehead. Remember to blend. That is key. Blend, blend and more blend, having the right shade of foundation should also help. Have a consultant at your drug store help you out. If you cant find one. Test your foundation by applying it on your jawline using a mirror. The spot you apply it to test should be kind of below your ear toward your chin along the line of your chin. Hope that helps.

make sure first you put on a moisturizer so ur skin isnt dry and stuff. then use powder foundation and put some on a sponge and apply a light layer of it making sure its all evened out. apply it in downwards motions bewcause you have little hair on ur face and you want them to me down. dont use too much powder or it will look chalky and cakey and not so well. hope i was helpful.

Mix it with a little moisturizer, and apply it lightly with a sponge. It will give you a lovely glow as well as evening out your skin tones, and it won't make you look "cakey."

Add a small qty of moisturising lotion to the foundation so that it spreads evenly and then apply this mixture as dots on the face and blend them evenly

dampen a cosmetic wedge and ring it out. apply small dots and blend down to just past you jawline. the dampened cosmetic sponge really helps and makes it look less cakey. promise. Just give her a try!
