To cancel you usually have to pay a fee. They would have told you this amount when you signed up and it will also be in your contract. Look in the paper work, online, call them, or go to the store to find out the details.

They have like a week or two week period when you can cancel without paying anything. I don't know where you are... I don't think we have O2 in America. I had a contract with them when I lived in Germany. I cancelled it before the one year contract expired and I had to pay like 100 euro for cancellation. What you can do, maybe it's cheaper to go to a less expensive plan and not use too much, than pay the contract fee.

You can cancel it but you will get stung with a mega cancellation fee. The best thing to do is to call o2 and tell them what the situation is, maybe they will be able to change your contract for you to make it cheaper. The only thing is you'll probably loose minutes/texts in the process. Good luck.

Unfortunately your option is to stay with them if you don’t want to pay the penalty, usually runs around $200 dollars. Companies usually impose these fees because they estimate the time they have to have you as a subscriber in order to get a return on the investment they made to get your contract. Now, be aware that when you get close to you contract expiration date you’ll be able to bargain a good renew option or perhaps a nice phone; better of, you’ll be able to move into another company, say T-Mobile? That’s the one I find cheaper in terms of minutes per fixed monthly fee, a little behind in connectivity though.

Hope this helps!

Do not change your contract...they will extend it for another time frame. The best thing would be for you to cancel your contract and just pay the cancellation fee over time.

You have to find out if they charge you a cancellation fee. If they do you might want to wait until your contract ends. Try getting a prepaid phone. www.virginmobile.com has alot of prepaids. You pay in advance and It really helps to manage your calls and not overspend just because you have a plan.

Most cell phone companys will let you buy your way out of a contract but its expensive. US Cellular charges $150.00. Or you can change your package to something that better meets your needs at anytime. but there is usually a minimum amount that you will have to pay each month. Mine is $50.00 but i have alot of minutes and share talk with my husband and daughter so its woth it for me. I use mine for all my long distance phone calls instead of my home phone.

Contact o2 and see if they can offer you a more suitable tariff or alternativley after a certain period in your contract you should be able to change your tariff to the cheapest one without extending your current contract.
