I have created a Be Positive-Do Something Positive Day, March 1, 2007 and am promoting it on my blog, haroldsays.net, to the media and world. I am looking for suggestion as to small things people could do to make their families or homes, schools, cities or towns, their states, their countries and their world a better place to live. What do you think someone could do?

Clean up your room.

If you normally keep your room clean, help a friend clean up theirs.

If all your friends are neat, I've got this garage.............

The seeds to our success lies right where we are. Our own backyard. Where we live. How do I treat myself? Do I have fun? Do I take chances and risks? Do I do things that have the potential to embarass me? Do I take the road less travelled...the inner road?
How do I treat the people around me? Do I step around the bum on the street? Do know the nameof the janitor who cleans my office space or is he invisible to me? Does my daughter have to petition for my time and set up an appointment?
When was the last time I suprised my wife with a gift just because....?
When was the last time I did something esteemable for me...simply because I am worth it?
When I see someone kicking his three year old's *** in public do I gossip about what I saw when I get to work or home or do I do something about it? Do I do service to my fellow man and keep it to myself or do I do it so I can brag to everyone how much I recycle or send money to the children's fund...or volunteer my time at Lighthouse reading to the blind in hospices and hospitals so they can see what a good guy I am?
The seeds to our success and that of our fellow man lie right where we are....at our feet...and the space around us.
We start small...with our own attitudes...to ourselves...create the bedrock of understanding and compassion...and like the ripples in the pond...spread out from there.
that's my little take on your question...with a little slice of that which I do for myself...and then others...

Have you done something esteemable for yourself today? Just because you are worth it? Why not? If you did...did you bring along a friend? Call an old friend to remind her of how important she is to you? Written a card to yourself with a love poem you wrote for you...just because you value you?
Bought a christmas present for your favorite waitress...took your son fishing without the spouse having to remind you to spend time with him?...
there is nothing small...about one small positive thing to make a better world...they leave deep impressions on the lives...of those we come in contact with...like the heat of a gigantic hand...held out in openness and compassion.
Peace and blessings be upon you and yours.

my answer is very simple--smile--believe it or not i have always tried to smile at everyone i see--most of the times no matter how bad a day someone is having if my smile forces them to smile back i feel as if i made their day just a little bit better--of course their are exceptions to every rule--but for the most part it works for me

edit: at work i am constantly complemented on my smile--i explain--unfortunately for them they only see 1 smile, i get to see all of their smiles about 50 of them--so i ask you, who is the fortunate one--yes, a simple smile has it’s rewards.
