Dolphins, Orca and porpoise. Sharks are known to flee an area when these mammals come close. Most sharks are the perfect EATING maching. Think about it, how many people are KILLED and then EATEN by sharks each year? Yes, you get bitten, but the shark realizes it made a mistake and leaves. We are too bony.

A horrible fate for all sharks is finning. This is catching sharks, no matter the species, and cutting off the fins and dumping the shark ALIVE back into the sea where it will drown.

Sharks are amazing creatures and are beautiful swimmers and wonderful to watch.

Yes, sharks are perfect.

The great white is a beautifully designed killing machine. They are however preyed on by killer whales where there is co-habitation. The waters off the coast of California, Oregon and Washington are a prime example of where this happens. Mind you its not a one way street, great whites will attack juvenile orcas too.
You wont get great whites eating other great whites much. They would prefer to take seals because the calorie yield is higher. However if food is scarce and there are not many other alternatives. They will hunt other sharks and marine creatures

Orcas and dolphins may occassionally kill sharks but sharks are not their main food source and so would probably not be called predators. There isn't any animals which class their food source as the Great White and so in a sense does not have any predators.

David M is wrong, sharks along with crocodiles have the most advanced immune systems known, they are even immune to cancer. There aren't any creatures that would actively seek a Great White as a prey item although an Orca pod would have the potential to attack it and inflict considerable damage if they felt threatened by it, for example; if they were defending their young.

Most people will tell you that it does not and that it is at the top of it's food chain. Nearly right!

As long as it is healthy then no large predator would take it on. If it got sick, injured, old or feeble then quite a number of marine predators and scavengers would pounce!

But even healthy it is threatened by very efficient predators that everyone tend to forget. Microbes and Viruses are just as big a threat to it as they are to all living animals.

Ironic that an animal at the top of it's food chain can be brought down and killed by the smallest and simplest of lifeforms isn't it!

I have seen on TV where Killer Whales (aka Orcas) killed a great white and as someone pointed out, other sharks including other great whites will not hesitate to take advantage of one if the opportunity presents itself.

Actually they are terribly frightened of the Greater Malaysian Aquatic Llama, a seldom-seen and little-known monster of the deep. The Greater Malaysian Aquatic Llama can grow to a length of over 200 feet and weight upwards of 15 tons. While its primary diet consists of tangerines and asparagus, it has been known to swallow a shark whole (there's a video on CNN).

In the words of Matt Hooper in Jaws, "They're really a miracle of evolution. All they do is swim, eat, and make little baby sharks."
