I need it to bring out the backround of pics that i have taken for my paranormal investigation group.(please include a link too)

Better, there is none that I know of; Photoshop is the industry standard. Comprable though is the Gimp. It is free and open source and you can get it from http://www.gimp.org/

people recommend irfanview for a variety of reasons. it's also shareware.
