she probably isn't "digging" in her food.

she might be tossing her food dish around... bunnies like to throw things (believe it or not).

try getting her some toys to play with... something she can toss around the cage... and maybe something with a bell on it... bunnies are similar to cats (in that they like to play with toys).

the stress of the food change might be what's causing her to be extra aggressive.

I am just assuming that you are talking about a pelleted mix. (if i am wrong, please ignore this answer) Please take the advice of the above post and visit rabbit.org. Adult bunnies need only a tiny amount of pellets for a maintenance diet (i.e. you are not planning on breeding/eating them :) ) Fresh timothy/grass hays and veggies should make up the majority of the diet. Hays can be hung from a mini-hayrack, veggies can be given, coarsely chopped, in a large heavy ceramic bowl. Pellets only really make up a fraction of the diet ideally, so then you won't really have to worry about them throwing them around and wasting them. It is possible your bunny does not like the new food, and is trying to tell you so. Be sure that whatever pellets you choose to use do not contain seeds or any other "cute" stuff. These are put in there just to look good to us, not for the nutrition of the bunny (so we will buy it, of course!) So, go back to the old pellets if possible and if you choose to switch brands, GRADUALLY introduce the new diet by giving them, say, 25% new diet mixed w/75% old diet for a few days, then 50/50 a few days, then 75/25, then after 7-10 days, you are at 100% new diet. I would also research timothy pellets instead of alfalfa pellets if your bun is an adult. Oxbow Hay has an awesome website, and great products, too.

Give them variety with the fresh veggies instead. I promise you, your bun will love you for it!

good luck.

Some of them just do that, there isn't any real way to stop them. Get her a large crock with a lip that comes back over the opening of the bowl, that will make it a lot more difficult for her to scatter the food.

Pellets should be the mainstay of a rabbit's diet. Plenty of hay and small treats of veggies are fine. Rabbit pellets are formulated to be a balanced diet with the correct proportion of nutrients. Creating a balanced diet yourself by feeding only vegetables and hay is very difficult.

I have a mini lop and he has always done that. Try getting some sort of box like a shoe box and put newspaper in it for it to dig in. My bunny loves that.

Is she spayed? It could be hormones. You can get a dish that attaches to the side of her cage which would make it more difficult to spread the food. Maybe she's bored or wants more of your attention. http://www.rabbit.org
