Toshiba Intel Celeron M 410 1.46GHz Laptop (A100-CF1) 512 MB 60G hardrive with no removable storage or Gateway AMD Sempron 3300+ 2.0GHz Laptop (MX6436RA) 512 MB, 80G hardrive with removable storage sold seperately? I am really only using it for school, no games. Also if you can explain the whole 'no removable storage' thing it would be much appreciated!

Please specify the model numbers you have selected.
The Toshiba is optimally configured for base requirements of a student however the removable storage means an additional storage device like an optical drive (CD/DVD drive with/without burning capabilities) which can be attached externally to the main unit. You may like to go for HP or Dell as they are optimally priced.
A Sony VAIO may cost more however will be a good looking notebook of all.

Removable storage could mean a number of things, anything that you can store your data (music, films, files etc) on away from your laptop, e.g an external hard drive, a usb thumbdrive, SD cards, mmc cards, etc, the external hard drive and usb flash/thumbdrive will work with any laptop, but the sd/mmc cards (those small flat cards (usually in phones / cameras)) require those slots on the laptop or a device you can plug into the usb slot that will contain those slots.
